Advice on buying a laptop

    Hi All,

    My bro is looking to buy a laptop, with circa €500 to spend. He is looking for something that has (or can be upgraded to 4Mb Ram) and min 15" screen. It will be a work laptop that he wants to run CAD on. Any ideas/comments welcome.

    I have a sony vaio vgn-ns20e and it runs cad perfectly, have no problems what so ever and the helpdesk from sony is great (had trouble with installing msn and they phoned back with the solution within a hour). People say sony laptops are over priced but I don't agree. I payed €450 for mine and there are good deals all over the place. You can buy one up for around the 500 no problem. Mine has 3gb a 250gb HD. I didn't need a better one because I stream everything from my desk top so I went for the cheapest one. I choose sony because of the weight/performance/price.

    I'm running autoCAD architecture on it.
