Ive been doing a few big pigeon days lately... 300-400 bag between 3 of us and about 1,500 rounds fired. After firing 500 rounds of 32grm 6 I go home shell shocked!!! I usually wake up with a headache the next day!!!! (its like a shooting hangover!). I plan on doing more serious pigeon days so I reckon its time to give in and get a semi auto. Ive been looking at the Benelli and the Beretta Xtrema 2. Anybody any experience of either of these guns??

I take it you're wearing ear muffs?

If not, you should be, because with that much shooting you'll definitely do serious permanent damage to your hearing.

Stop stirring it Pat!! I would love to see some sort of data on the shockwave that must travel through your skull with every shot fired.

Whats the legalities etc about "uncrimping " your semi auto so it can fire 5 shots (or 12!!)??

Grand as long as you have a licence for a restricted shotgun.

And if you are taking bags like that it should be good reason for an restricted.

I found the SI from 2008 deeming anything over 3 shots rstricted, now Im looking for the legislation on aquiring a licence for a restricted (5 shot) firearm. Anyone know exactly where to get it while I trawl through the law?!

Ok, I got some info here...

    http://sparks.journals.ie/2009/07/31/firearms-licence-renewal-information/

    Q. Where can I get a new application form for a Firearms Certificate and who do I apply to?
    A. All application forms that apply to the new firearms legislation can be obtained at any Garda Station or on www.garda.ie An application for a non restricted firearm certificate shall be made on form FCA1 to the superintendent of the district where the applicant resides. If the application refers to a restricted firearm, the superintendent shall forward the application to the chief superintendent of that division.

Is it just a matter of ticking a box on the new application forms stating its a restricted weapon? Sparks??
