Straightening Hair

    Hi Everyone :)

looking for any advice on growing and straightening my hair and if it would be worth it.

So I am an 18yr old guy with shortish hair at the moment which is very thick and curly and would go kind of into an afro if I grow it.

I am wondering if I bought a straightener would it be to much work for me if I were to grow it?

I am looking to grow it to around the same length of Pete Doherty's in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1RkJSU29B0

Any advice on whether or not to grow it or suggestions on straighteners or any other relevant information would be very much appreciated :)

    Thanks people x

... I am wondering if I bought a straightener would it be to much work for me if I were to grow it?...

Any advice on whether or not to grow it or suggestions on straighteners or any other relevant information would be very much appreciated :)

    Hi there!

Firstly, I'd consider whether growing your hair is going to suit you and fit in with your style.
If so, then why not? You're young and you have plenty of time to experiment with hair! :)

My choice of hair straightener would be a GHD. These are considered the best on the market, by consumers, by hair stylists, by pretty much everyone! They have a range of sizes and prices start from about 120 euro.
They're pricey, but they work. They're fast and efficient!

If you invest in a decent hair straightener, then it wouldn't be much work to maintain your hairstyle! Few minutes every morning should do the trick!

Another word of advice; if you're going to purchase a straightener online, from Ebay or the likes, make sure it's genuine and you're not being ripped off. There's an increasing number of fakes being sold on the market, especially fake GHDs - so just be cautious!

Thanks for replying Pikachu Cheeks (cute name btw!)

Its kind of hard for me to know if longer hair will definitely suit me or not but lots of people tell me it will and so I'm willing to experiment.

Where would you recommend buying a ghd?

I really have no idea, but having looked at the website I think this styler would be the one for the look I want http://www.ghdhair.com/ie/ghd-iv-mini-styler

Please say if you dont agree and also where should I buy it?

    Sorry for all the questions!!

    And thanks again

I was going to suggest the mini GHD. Most of the guys I know who use straighteners seem to go for that one! I guess it's easier to use on shorter (long) hair.

I've only ever gotten my GHDs from Peter Marks. I know there are loads of places to buy online though, I just would be wary of fakes, as pikachucheeks said. HQhair is supposed to be pretty reliable though.

Straightening isn't that much work at all. I have really long, thick hair, and I can straighten it all in 15 mins, and then in the morning I just fix little bits that stick out after being asleep, which only takes a few minutes! Once you get the hang of it, it's really quick and easy!

    Oh, thanks :)

Peter Marks have them! That's where I got mine. Usually have certain offers on, so you'll get some styling products free with purchase or a bag to keep your straightener in!

Mini styler is a good choice for a guy! It's handy for shorter hair.
