Hi just back from Holidays last night and stayed in hotel last night before heading home. Just one problem, my car wont start properly - it seems that it cuts out. Could anyone recommend a good call out machanic that wont rip me off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks
    Richard.

Check your car insurance and see if you have breakdown cover. If you have it's free, if you haven't you'll be kicking yourself. AA charge €40 for a jump start at Dublin Airport.

OP - sounds like the altenator/starter ..... does it start or just kinda click several times ?

EDIT: I read your message again - it starts and cuts out .... possible a slight electrical fault, did you have a look under the bonnet and see if theres anything that looks out of place.

PS. I'm not a Mechanic - but have had enough car problems to learn some of the basics that go wrong

Thanks for responses guys. I actually got a guy (from gumtree) who called out within an hour and sorted the problem. Believe it or not it was only the battery. But there were one or two other this he looked at when he was there - I needed new brake pads as the car was making a huge noise everytime I hit the brakes. He was very professional and only charged 50 euros which was great. I have the guys number but not sure if the rules allow me to put it on here ?

    thanks anyway for advice.
