They have brought in some new Game's over the past few months, just thought i'd list them.

    Tekken 6 (x3)

Guitar Hero Arcade (HDTV Lags the notes by about 1 second, not worth playing imo)

NitroX (2 player High-Speed MotoCross, quite fun)

Initial D 5 (Japanese Racer Everyone Should Know By Now)

Dance Dance Revolution X (Typical DDR Game With Tracks Ranging From Every Previous Arcade Installment Of DDR, INCL DDR1-2-3-4-5th Mix, Extreme, SuperNova, Supernova 2, & Brand New Tracks Exclusive to DDRX. WELL worth money but HDTV lags the arrows, just play to the beat of the music & it works)

    MACHINES OUT!

    Tekken 5 (x1, 2 Machines Remain)

    Bull Wrestling.

    Commando Squad.

Dance Dance Revolution (x2, Machines Updated to 2009)

More to Come, i'm a frequent customer so i notice when machines get replaced lol.

Thanks for the info. Why do they love tekken so much in that place?!

Yeah i know i would've loves a couple of SF4 machines on there and BlazBlue!

They only listen to a select few people in there and that select few were the same nationality as the manager, & they all wanted Tekken 6. So there ya go. They need to sort out lag on GH:Arcade though. Funny thing is GH is made by activision, & it's right around the corner from Dr.Q's lol.

    Where is activision?

    What nationality is the manager?

I don't like that arcade. It can have some really bad clientele. Garda searching the customers outside isn't a uncommon sight. Place is full of poker machines now.

Ah fs :/ see this is why people get arcade machines in their houses. Anyone know where there is any other arcades in Dublin?

    Is the hideout still open?
If it is it probably doesn't have any arcades left though. Everyone seemed to go poker/pool

The Leisureplex have some machines but their clientele is probably worse lol:D

The one right beside the cinema on Parnell St.,not as big as Quirkeys but at least it's not packed with skangers.

Activision is in a glass building across the road from the moore street mall beside chapters somewhere on parnell street. That being said about Quirkeys being the worst arcade in dublin, while agreed, it's the only arcade to actually update the machines, from the arcades i see listed above, Quirkeys is the only one with Tekken 6 & DDRX. The manager is Italian or polish i think. He's foreign i know.

No, The Hideout is no more I'm afraid. Least it wasn't there when I walked passed it about a year ago. I used to spend many a lunch hour from College in there. Not to mention the weekend pool and arcade sessions. Great memories.

Stopped going to the arcades when I realised I had all this and more back home on the consoles, only the likes of Outrun 2 and Galaxians 3 tempted me back but no more.
The last time I had a great time at the arcades was playing Starblade in Dr.Quirkies back in the day, quite some time ago.

Na man remember the big milky way simulator many years ago that was the **** LOL. And that flying arcade game that used to move with the joystick inside it used to go upside down and do barrel rolls and all. THOSE were good memories... Now quirkeys is just gambling. It sucks. But still... DDR & Tekken 6 are good.

Thing is that an awful ot of the new folk to our shores are quite taken with gambling machines, so that's where the money is, so quirkies bring in more, and they're more obvious.
That "flying arcade game" was sh1t, called G-Loc, had the R360 cabinet, but was still just a 1990 tech, Afterburner 2 and a half really, and not great fun, expensive to play though.

I fondly remember Seapoint in Salthill in Galway as a little monster. Back in them days a pound made for a good hour of fun. Oh Operation Wolf I needed a boost to see up high enough but how I loved thee.

The arcade we used as teens was Dublin Airport!
Only place close to Swords that had a full sized Outrun cabinet!
Also used to go into town to an arcade on O'Connell street, it is where Marathon sports is now I think, used to go downstairs, they had Stun Runner, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doosm and Super Sprint, amongst others.
Used to play 4 player XMen in Barneys before getting the bus home!
Also there was a great arcade we used to frequent before Quazar on the southside somewhere, we'd mosey in there from college (Kevin St) and I'd get into Aliens.

    Good times!

Does anyone rememeber Fun Palace on Bray seafront? It has since been turned into a Casino (I shudder to think what happened to all the machines)

At one time the place was just full of jamma cabs. Even when Dawsons was getting in loads of new 3d games, they still had all the older classics. Really should have taken advantage of that place more while it was there.

I went in today, didn't seem like too bad a place, there were plenty of machines in there. Two Initial D Arcade Stage 4 ones were all I was concerned with!

Hi, its years since I was in Dr.Quirkeys on O'Connell Street, when I use to enter there was a fighter jet game on left as you entered that you would be strapped into and you were rotated upside down, does anyone know the name of the game?
    Thanks!

I told you before you didn't realise how good you had it living out in Bray. You were spoilt for choice at the time, not a patch on what it used to be now:(

Yeah,It was the sequel to After burner wasn't it.
There was one in Dundrum bowl as well.
Good fun but didn't try it that much as it was an exclusive 1 pound machine and my communion money had to last

Do I remember reading something about an Irish golfer who collects arcade cabs? Can't remember his name.
