This origional Brazilian hybred is currently up for grabs in Mallow for €16,950

I guess it would have a limit market as "purists" would tend to go for either a bay or a split. Still an eye catcher and guess they would have no problems shifting as a PR vehicle for some hotel chain or night club.

it has an 1980 V numberplate so the van isnt a 68 then? For a minute I thought maybe it was a brand new Type 2 as i did see a 08 WW xxx last sunday, really nice Camper Van.

It could be a personalised plate too, i've seen loads of stuff like that in the UK.

The van is a bit of a mongrel, it dosn't have the front bumper cab side step found on earlier bays yet it still has the earlier period lower front indicators.

Definitely not 68, VW in Germany or Brazil didn't produce those large rectangular tail lights until the late 70ies. Brazil was still producing splitscreen vans up until 1975 so I would put that van in around late 70ies early 80ies.

    DVLA says:
The vehicle details for GAF 173V are:

    Date of Liability 16 08 2008
    Date of First Registration 26 03 1999
    Year of Manufacture 1980
    Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1500CC
    CO2 Emissions Not Available
    Fuel Type Petrol
    Export Marker Not Applicable
    Vehicle Status Unlicensed
    Vehicle Colour WHITE
    Vehicle Type Approval null

I presume the plate is an age-related one.
