Just wondering what way are the Championships run off in each county. Are they like in Waterford, when as long as the Senior Hurling team are still in the championship, no games are played, and even football games are called off as well. IT drives me mad. Someone should tel County Boards that the Clubs are the most important unit in the G.A.A. Why do they leave several hundred players without games to accomodate 30 plus players in a senior inter county panel.

Same story in wexford. Once the leaving starts thats the end of our championship for a few months. I wouldnt mind if the inter county teams benefit from this policy but they dont. Its totally rediculous

Maybe a rule should be brought in which would make Counties play their Club games between inter county championship games. To me a player is more likely to pick up an injury training or playing a challenge game with their county than playing a competitive club championship game.

Well in Dublin we play two rounds of football championship in may and then resume end of September. Seems to work as we have won the last two all irelands.

The games are generally played around the All-Ireland championship here, although you couldn't do anything else considering the size of this place.

In Armagh the championships have just started and will finish end of september / early October. BTW Crossmaglen simply awesome again this year - new players in and motoring well. All championships are straight forward knockout
In Monaghan there is a back door route
In Tyrone I think the back door is also available

Think Derry have a back door system too.

First round not even finished here yet.

Wicklow have a very long championship format (due to use never being involved in the later stages of the All Ireland till this year).

16senior teams are divided into 4 groups of 4, a round robin system is played. Top two from each group go into the quater finals, the bottom 2 from each group go into some shield or something (my club has never been in the shield so I dont know how exactly it works, although the way things are going this year we probably will be).

The winners of each group play the runner up in another. Were going to be pushing it tight this year as the championship does not start till next week. And with a minimum of 6weeks required to complete it (they dont do mid week games in wicklow) that will be the middle of september before its finished. Could be pushing it tight for Leinster!

    Regards
    Ian

Down here, The Nire look very good. I hope in saying that it does not put some sort of curse on their chances. Last year but for a major cock up in the Way the championship was run, they would have won the Munster Final and as they will not meet either a cork or Kerry team (if someone else does not beat them before the Munster Final), They have a very good chance of winning the Munster Final this year.

in laois the first round of the senior football c'chip is only kicking off this weekend, totally mind-boggling as again club players are training since early spring most teams have their league campaigns finished since june and its not like the county team is going well ,clubs have to play without there "county-players" all year but the worst part is teams that end up in the county finals that deserve to be playing on a sunny sunday during the summer end up playing usually on a dark wet soggy pitch in october which is not fair on players who for some is there all-ireland:confused:

In kilkenny last round of league being played next weekend with championship not starting til kilkenny get knocked out, which usualy means mid september, can be hard for the average club hurler waiting over a month for serious games but i suppose we cant complain too much if kilkenny are winning.
All though in fairness the kk county board do usually get all championships finished in time for the club leinsters.

It does look like that the G.A.A. at head quarters have to step in, in every county and ensure that the Club Championships are not forgotten about. Since the Back Door system came it it appears clubs have been forgotten about.
