Accommodation in Galway.. horror stories!

    Hey guys, that time of year again, where everyone is frantic looking for a place to live. There's four of us looking for a place close to NUIG, and looking around it seems theres more five beds available, so if anyone wants to join us send me a pm :) second and third years welcome! :)

    And is it just me or is decent private accommodation ridiculously hard to find? It's either miles out of the way, freezing cold, completely rundown, with ancient furniture probably found in a skip or at the very least a crazy landlord! Share your horror stories :) To get the ball rolling, my worst experience of renting a house was finding maggots in the kitchen presses. ugh!!! roommate from hell stories welcome too lol

    Lived with two malaysian dudes in first year. They used to thaw out chicken on the counter, they wouldnt cover it over and it would be there for days and swarming with flies. When they were eating fish and came across a bone, would just spit it on the ground. They left icecream in the fridge for the year so I had a cup of mould beside my milk all year.

    And in second year all our rooms were ensuite (no main bathroom). One week when I wasnt there the housemates threw a party and they volunteered my room for the toilet to use. All my stuff was robbed and the room completely trashed. :mad:

    Had good housemates in third year though :p
