A few days ago my 3network mobile broadband balance was 7 gigs+

I downloaded roughly 1 gig of media and did some normal email checking, and my balance has gone down to 1.3 gigs. I would have expected it to be around 5 gigs.

Apart from my girlfriend browsing ebay for a few hours today, is there anything that could have used up my broadband allowance?

How did you download the 1GB of media?
    bittorrent?

If you download vast amounts of data, then they'll reduce your limit to something reasonibly expected.

Mobile broadband service isn't exactly designed for large amounts of data download, which is why they are cutting back on your limit.

Sounds like you're downloading music, movies, TV, etc. If it's copyright material, they may even terminate your service.

Upload is included in your traffic.

well you'd think they might tell you that, possibly under "download limit"... ffs.

I'm thinking of switching over to O2 broadband, the same phone network gave me no trouble for years now.

I use utorrent occasionally, I just wondered if I was being ripped off? Has it happened to anyone else?

    1 gig is hardly "vast".
Are you saying that they cut my credit? that's theft.

If you pay for 10 gigs per month, It's reasonable to expect that you get 10 gigs per month.

If you pay for 10gb of data you get 10gb of data. They do not reduce your allowance if you are downloading a lot.

They have only had that deal in the last few months, before that it was 10 gigs for €25.

They've never called it a download limit, they call it Data Allowance. People incorrectly assume it's always the download amount that's counted, and they never think of upload.

That will be no guarantee of better Internet speeds.
