I dont know if this has been posted up here already but if it is feel free to close thread.

Now as from the 29th July there has been price changes to the RRP of Sky boxes.

    New Customers:

New customers taking Sky+ and Sky+HD can now get one discounted box only. Which you can no longer get both boxes for €49. E.G: New customer taking Sky+HD as first box and Sky+ as second: Sky+HD RRP €49 and Sky+ RRP €99 and vice versa.

    Existing customers:

Existing FDB customers adding Sky+ are now charged at RRP €49 with €100 installation.

Existing Sky+ customers taking an additional Sky+ box are now charged at €199 with €100 installation....yes thats €299 in total! (This is also the same for Sky+HD customers and adding a second Sky+ box)

Existing FDB customers swapping out for a Sky+ are now charged RRP €149 and again €100 installation...that my friends is €249!!

    Talk about a recession...:confused::confused:

And what's the cost of upgrading from Sky+ to Sky HD?

Sky+HD box costs €49 for new Sky digital subscribers and existing customers who sign up to another 12 month minimum term for Sky TV and the HD Pack. One €49 box per household and not available if you already have SkyHD/Sky+HD box.

How does Sky justify the installation charges for existing customers compared to new customers? It costs only €50 for new customers which involves putting up a dish and wiring up the Sky box. For existing customers, they charge €100 for simply adding an extra cable (for Sky+) and swapping boxes. I know this is simply to draw in new customers, but isn't there some law that comes into play here?

My sky sales were just starting to pick up again after falling through the floor, and then they go and do this.
Will have people ringing me up and moaning about the price , as if it's my fault

Not breaking any laws, just extremely arrogant and short -sighted pricing policy.

If it is your first HD box then it will still be €49 for the box. But you will also have to pay for installation.

Couldnt of put it better myself...I was talking to a Sky Official and he asked me what do I think would be a major problem in customers signing up to Sky...or something along that line...to which I said the price for existing customers upgrading...and they do this...seems that it went in one ear and straight out the other...

i am gonna get rid of mine soon as i am tired of watching the same stuff over and over again

Predator, the usual suspects, starman, beverly hills cop,

sick and tired of watchinf the same movies day after day week after week month after month

Movies have been around since the 20's surly they can chamnge the line up instead of just adding one movie to premier every month

Monday Starman is on Sci Fi Horror then its on Modern Greats on a Tuesday etc etc its just repeat after repeat not worth any money at all

I cant see this anywhere on the Sky Ireland website, please give link.
Is FDB the insurance company, i use it fo insurer my tractor.

It would be great to get Sky+ Box for only €149,incl installation fee.

My sky+ stopped working. Sky wanted €100 from me to fix it.
I just cancelled and got the Foxsat HDR. Im delighted i did. No more paying for TV for me. The foxsat doesnt get RTE but there is always the RTE player.

tbh i havent missed rte or sky at all.
