My cursor seems to take on a life of its own when I am typing. Dell inspiron 1525. Does anyone know what I mean? It's doing my nut in and nothing to do with the coke I spilled as it was like this before.

Is the edge of your palm hitting off the touchpad perchance? Mine does from time to time. I have a brief wtf, then realise.

I dont think so. It happens while I am typing then I will notice I am typing over half of my previous sentance. Maybe I am hitting it by mistake, I just dont want to think I am to blame first :)

It is your touchpad. Go to the touchpad settings (there should be an icon on the right of the taskbar) and lower the sensitivity and it should sort it.

If you don't have the touchpad settings, have a look at the Dell website for updated drivers etc.

Some Dell touchpad settings have an option to turn TouchCheck on, which can detect if you brush your palm off the touchpad and doesn't move the mouse. Personally I've never found a use for it but maybe it will help you.
