If I have an (MPEG4 capable) DTT reciever and I live in an area where both RTE and UK DTT signals are available how does the EPG/allocation of channel numbers work ?

RTÉ will end up in the 800's

It depends to an extend on the software.

For even the most basic receiver you will be able to order the channel whatever way you want to.

Chaps, I've got a mpeg4 compatible TV which picks up the channels fine but
it doesn't pick up any EPG information, should it do? I'm in the Sandymount, Dublin area, so presumably picking up Three Rock transmissions.

On my Sony W4000,RTE etc takes the 001 position and BBC one Wales,ITV one wales etc is in the 800's depite having the stronger signal.
The RTE radio stations get grouped in the 700's ahead of the UK stations.

Is your television setup for the Irish market or the UK?

If i do the setup of my television (same model as yours) and tell it I am in the UK instead of Ireland then RTÉ, TV3 and TG4 end up in the 800's.

It's set up for the UK Mossy Monk.

Whats happening I believe [I read this somewhere on DS] is that RTE are sending an instruction to identify their transmissions as having to go in the top slots.

It's wierd.I can only receive Kippure DTT and on low power too so presely is much much stronger.
In certain weather conditions,I lose Kippure altogether and if I do a rescan then, the TV puts BBC One wales in the 001 position ,ITV one Wales in 003 etc.

    I stand corrected.

I changed the TV from Ireland to the UK so as to get the RTÉ digital text test several and many months ago.
When I looked last night-just to double check,it was set to Ireland...probably that happened when one of the lads was playing with the tv when we were finished alligning the presely twins.

    I'd never have looked.

Anyhow RTE etc are now in the 800's and BBC one Wales,BBC2 Wales,ITV1 wales,S4c,five etc are in the top positions.

    Nice one.

I think You can order the digital channels whatever way you want on the Sony anyhow or at least I think I remember reading that in the manual-I'm too busy to check.
