I've been on about it for AGES and ages but so far I've not spoken to anyone yet properly about classes.

Anyone care to shed some light, class wise? I've read the website but I wanna know what goes on, etc.

i presume you are talking about john o'riordan's classes?

well john runs a very closed door type session, and unless you are actually training with him you will not know what goes on. check the training times and just go!

it's a bit like being afraid to go into the sea for a swim, you ask someone that is in it already to find out whats it's like to try and get yourself to go in. but it's only when you actually go in that you find out what it's like and either get used to it or get out ;)

I am indeed buddy! I know it's very private but he doesn't let anyone watch unless they sign up and I don't want to have to fork out money and register just in case I won't enjoy it :/

Cork has very little Chinese martial arts for some reason. Lots of pretty much everything else. I can't find anywhere that does Tai Chi as a martial art, only Tai Chi forms or health Tai Chi.

There is this place but I asked on here about these guys before and got no replies. Look at their history page...dog-faced sifu:)

    http://shaolin.ie/

But if you read some of this thread it seems to be a load of rubbish, Karate Gi's, Belt system, Gradings like Karate and a fairly unknown history:

I wouldn't touch Shaolin Do with a 10 foot pole. Sorry but a style that claims to be 100% traditional in Chinese Martial Arts and contradicts itself by having a non-Chinese name, uniform system, grading system and forms just is too sketchy. Master Hairyface is also very believeable

I wish that school would leave Cork to be honest. Shaolin Do a disgrace to CMAs all across the world.

Traditional is subjective. Traditionally non chinese were not allowed to practise Kung-Fu and the fact that we are means traditions have been broken.

Not practising Kung Fu wouldn't be a Chinese Martial Art tradition though:P

I see what you're getting at, but the above reasons are still valid :)

I found this place the other day: http://www.aikidoshobukancork.com/

I emailed the trainer and he reckons he will be starting up the Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan classes in early September. So this might be a suitable alternative to Wing Chun. Obviously they are different styles but it's Kung Fu and starting up soon. I did some Yang Style before and it usually covers Push Hands, Chin Na, Striking, Sanshou, Slow Forms and Qigong.

Yeah, he had a thread here a few pages back. Seems interesting, will have to check it out sometime!

I've got no experience in Taiji but my old Sifu Frankie was a practitioner of the Chen style. Scary stuff, especially fa jing!
