From end 09 i think, may have been extended.

Dont bother stocking up as ER/JG will have a vast number of inspectorial zealots scouring the country at night looking for stocks of the old candy bulbs which will be used to throw light on NAMA:)

The ESB recently sent out a leaflet

You're not just limited to CFLs or LEDs there are halogen versions of regular bulbs that may suit your needs.

Is it just me or are the new energy saving bulbs not as bright as the wasteful normal bulbs? ..by normal bulbs i mean the ones invented by Thomas Edison.

To my eye they are not as bright, take some time to "warm up" and the light seems watery

Folks I have to say I knew I was getting old the day I said halogen and LED lights look sh1t. Dont care about the environment. I recycle. I use little heating and I have an envir frend timberframe house.

I wish i had a decent light bulb.
