Just to let those who don't know already that ESPN will take over the rights from Setanta from Round 19 (next week):

3 Live games per round during H&A season, 2 games in week 1 of the Finals, 1 game in weeks 2-3 and the Grand Final Live
Their 3 games will inculde the Friday night game, 1 Saturday night game and 1 Sunday afternoon game
All games will be available in HD (Sky Ch. 443)
Rights are from Rnd 19, 2009 to the end of the 2011 season.

You can read the AFL press release here: AFL Press Release

The 1 extra game per round is good news and so is the games in HD for the first time. The bad news is it's another subscription I'm afraid :(

Does this mean we can't watch for free on the afl site like the last few weeks?

another subscription is the bad news alright. And no mention of the loss from Setanta, they just roll on without saying anything. I didnt realise until I went searching for the games and saw the listing on ESPN. Did some cursing at it then. Cancelled Setanta as there is nothing on it now that I'd be bothered with to be paying €20 or however much it is now.
