The Donn's Tips

I'm not claiming to be a huge fan of Donn McLean and his record recently hasn't been great but his tips on Newstalk Off The Ball are usually at good value odds which I know a good few people on here like. So I'll give this a go for a few weeks, he generally has 1 main and 1 outside tip each week (Thursday nights) and if people wanna follow it then fair enough.

    Last nights tips:

    Donn's Big tip:

    Horse: Sonny Red (each way)
    Race: Steward's Cup, Goodwood, Saturday
    Price on Thursday: 22/1

    Donn's Outside Bet:

Horse: Money Cant Buy Me Love (each way)
    Race: Nassau Stakes, Goodwood, Saturday
    Price on Thursday: 7/1

More relevant is probably prices now, Sonny Red is into 10/1 with PP from 20's and Moneycantbuymelove is 7/1 with PP.

I'll get the tips up when I hear them next Thursday and from now on.

Edit: Neglected to mention: Nassau Stakes is the 3.05, Stewards Cup is the 3.40, and Paddy Power are paying out 5 places (1/4) on the latter.

will try not to clutter your thread in future...Good idea though, not much racing on off the ball unfortunately. Should be interesting to see how he works out.

    Nice one 8-10

I thought his record was pretty damned ropey and ithis thread shall show me right or wrong. I also find his selections odd in terms of odds. How is a 7/1 shot the outsider with respect to a 22/1 shot (at the time) being the main bet?

    Donn's Big tip:

Horse: Sonny Red (each way) unplaced

    Donn's Outside Bet:

Horse: Money Cant Buy Me Love (each way) placed

Exactly why I went with this thread. I've followed his tips the random time and not done so well. I'm interested if he actually achieves the 60% that the website claims, so I'll follow blindly for a few weeks and see how we get on.

I'd keep an eye on that 60% of the time quote, it seems fierce similar to the quote from anchorman "it works everytime, 60% of the time".
I do tend to try and get on whenever i hear him, but unfortunately, i'm in the red at the moment, prob due to my inconsistency with the betting.

Donn Mclean is a complete spoofer, I think his strike rate is about 6%. First saw him on Setanta, then in Bruce Betting on Saturdays there was a picture of him with the caption Donn's tips. Same thing all the time 25/1 chances in lottery races like the county hurdle, tote gold trophy or stewards cup. 2008 Irish champion hurdle was the best example, he tipped up some cripple to beat sizing europe, it was about 500 yards behind, then the sunday before Cheltenham in the paper he said sizing europe is a banker. I know very little about racing but that chap knows less, he couldnt fall over a winner.

I must be the lucky one so. I backed an 11\1 winner he tipped a while back

Right gotta apologise for not updating this. I haven't been around much in the past couple of weeks, had to make 3 trips over to the UK and haven't been betting at all really, only got to see the first race of the Shergar cup and pretty much nothing since. Plus footy is back. ;)

Anyway to bring the thread up to date, last 2 weeks' tips. Just as well I didn't post them, someone might have had a punt! I'll make sure to be listening this thursday however.
