    Hello there,
    I have a quick noob repairing question. I have a '98 ford fiesta, and the windscreen demister / air blower whatever you call it, is broken. If I have the car on for a while, air will start to come through the vents, by convection I suppose, and at this stage the hot/cold controls work. However, the strength of the air is tiny, and completely unaffected by any sort of messing with the controls. So I assume the motor down there is broken.
    So I've gotten myself a haynes manual, which tells how to do it, in a pretty much step-by-step fashion. The only thing is that it rates as a 4 out of 5 on the difficulty scale. I'm pretty handy at these sort of things, and following instructions can't be that bad, can it? But I'm no mechanic.
    The only reason I'm keen to do it myself, is that when I said it to a mechanic, his response was "it'll be expensive".
    So peoples, should I do it myself, or bite the bullet and pay an arm and a leg for it?

    about two yrs ago i was a complete novice and just got fed up paying people to do jobs fo me now i can change a gearbox clutch ive changed an engine etc next job im going tackling now is building an engine

    The reason it's rated as 'difficult' and 'expensive' is that it's a dashboard-out job which is very time consuming and fiddly. It'l take most of a weekend to do, you're talking 8-10 hours of continuous work. Take photos of the different stages, ensure you know where every screw and fastener goes and you'll be ok.

    Whatever you do, don't rush the job or you'll regret it big time.
