ISpilledcoke-on-my-laptop,just-got-it-back now from Dell. They apparently replaced the motherboard, but didnt do anything else. The keys are all sticky, I guess I was kind of expecting they would clean it, but . wishful thinking on my part. This sucks. The keys are all stuck. What should I do? Is it easy to dismantle and clean?

Replace the keyboard. pointless cleaning it. You'll have more problems in the future.

Ah jaysus. Was probably just better off buying a new one. Its an Inspiron 1525.
Dont think Ill go with Dell ever again, their customer 'service' is pretty infuriating.

    WTF? That's just wrong.

You should have gotten charged for cusotmer induced damage (coke on laptop is not wear and tear), and also asked you if you want the keyboard replaced. Or course, if these were done, you'd have to pay...

Once you get tehe keyboard, follow the easy instructions from the Dell website, and you'll be able to replace the keyboard with ease.

I did get charged. I paid for it. I assumede the keyboard replacement was in the price.

    And then you say this...

What about that? It is infuriating. I dont like them, they were very unhelpful and irritating.

i think your being a little harsh here on Dell. i deal with them alot, they would normally tell you what you were being charged for i.e. a motherboard. you never asked?

also, when you called them, did you tell them that the keyboard was damaged?

cleaning a keyboard is not part of any peoples service, replace yes, clean no. normally, they will only replace what you pay for/ask for.

If he paid then he paid for a repair and a sticky keyboard doesn't indicate a proper repair was done. It might be ok now but what about 4 months down the line?

normally they only repair what is paid for! maybe the initial problem here was bad communication by the agent who took the call and never explained what was paid for. they should have asked if there were any other problems with the system.
