Just a quick one but does jailbreaking \ unlocking your iPhone automatically void the warranty on it? Cheers.

Yes and no. Yes if you send it back to Apple in a jailbroken state. No if you restore it back to stock first. Everything Jailbreaking/Unlocking does can be un done by just restoring your phone using iTunes.

Thanks, seems quite straight forward. So when you unlock an iphone if you just restore it using itunes, Apple will be none the wiser!? If this is the case, why don't more people just buy them in the UK?

Mainly due to the fact that you may not always be able to update them. When Apple release an update you may end up waiting weeks before you can use it. Not a hugh deal until something like this comes along. An update is due fairly soon to patch this hole, and may not be unlockable straight away.

Because you have to re-jailbreak with each firmware update. As well as wait for the new unlock.
