You'd be making a big mistake by not getting help from your doc or from AA if you think you have a problem. Online help is not reliable, and it's not professional.

Please speak to someone who has experience at this. You'll be amazed at how common it is.

    Good luck.

AA is probably the place to go. I've been thinking of going for a while now!

I work in for the HSE Addiction Services in Dublin, go to your GP ask for a referral to your local Alcohol Services. Though a referral is not necessary, you can get him to check you out medically around your drinking. AA as well.

Here is a link to services in Ireland. Just pick you county, hope that helps:

As has been said , the internet/boards ain't the place that'll help someone with an addiction problem but there were a few forums suggested for it. You could try PersonalIssues but you'll just get the same links as posted here.

With the health service under immense strain and mental health services in particular , one has to wonder what kind of state this country will be in in a few years with so much funding due to get cut.

This probably ain't the place to talk about that though (but where ever is ?) You can really get the runaround from some sections of the health service , especially with more "nuanced" ailments so it's no wonder people turn to the internet for med advice.

Anyway, bit more info here - http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/health/alcohol-and-drug-treatment-services/alcohol_addiction_services

Best of luck to whomever needs the help.
