help Installing windows Xp On dell Studio 15??

    Hi Im just wondering could anyone tell me How I could install windows xp on my dell studio 15?? Could I mess up my laptop by doing it or should I be able to download and the nesscery drivers & stuff to make it work?? Thanks

    Well, have you tried it already? If you have a SATA harddisk, it will refuse to install normally. Assuming you have no floppy (my Studio 17 hasn't got one anyway), you could get a program like nLite and load the drivers and create a bootable ISO.

    Basically, if you dump your CD contents to a folder(dunno if this works with multiple CD versions), read the contents with nLite, load your HDD drivers (try the Dell Drivers and Downloads area), create a bootable ISO, burn to a CD-R, and then load it.

    It's complicated, so just post if you need any help with it.

    Give me a day or two and I'll try do a full guide.

    Alternatively, there is a version of XP on a certain mini torrent site with SATA drivers preinstalled that should work fine.

    Do you have xp compatible drivers for all that hardware of the machine? If not you could loose allot of functionality downgrading
