1GB ram? is it fast?

    is a 1GB ram fast compared to a 3GB, obvm the 3GB is faster but is it much faster.

    i want a laptop for games and programmes in college!

    Really depends on what your looking for. Processor speed is also a factor.

    When you are buying it make sure that it is easy to upgrade the RAM (ie That it has a spare bay) in case that you find the laptop a bit slow.

    RAM is pretty cheap to buy at the moment.

    Consider that even budget models are coming with 3-4GB as standard.....

    Not so much. Quantity is the key differentiator in performance when it comes to RAM.

    1GB is ok for XP but Vista will be slow with 1GB.
