Inishowen 100 - help for preparation

Anybody ever do this? I've never done a proper cycle like this (this is a 100 mile journey along the Inishowen coastline in Donegal) and hope to do it over 2/3 days in August, probably by myself.

Fitness wise I'm not too bad - I cycle c. 10 miles every day, usually it takes me around an hour and a half. What kind of calories should I be consuming for this sort of journey? Whats the best kind of breakfast? Should I taking sports drinks or just water? Should I be eating plenty of protein and carbs or should my main meal be fat-orientated, so as to give me the longevity I need?

Any help would be welcome, thanks.

2-3 days 33 - 50 miles a day, wouldnt worry about it just go and do it (cycling shorts if youve not got any thats about it) that distance that time i really wouldnt go for special diets (apart from keep hydrated)

Cheers, thanks! 50 miles a day on rather challenging terrain though? For someone who doesn't usually travel more than 10 miles a day? Would i not need to compensate in sort of way?

I read somewhere that whatever you commute in a week, you can comfortably cycle in a day. If you've all day to cycle, it's amazing how many kms you cover.

Porrige for breakfast on the day or any good big breakfast.
Bring nutrigrain type bars and/or bananas for on the road.
I water down lucozade sport (too sweet as it comes) or mix plain dioralyte in with diluted black currant. Available in all chemists.
Snack before you're hungry and drink before you're thirsty.
Eat till you're full after the cycle.

What sort of bike are you on?

I'll probably be going on the 17th/18th august. My bikes pretty poor shape and I've too fat a body to be seen amongst the athletes :D

I'll be staying in hostels hopefully along the way. I'm starting from Greencastle-> Muff -> Buncrana -> Ballyliffin - > Malin Town -> Malin head -> Culdaff -> Kinnego. Might break up the journey by stopping at Buncrana and Malin Head. Should be good :)

Is it a MTB or a Road bike or Hybrid?

Its a relic - around 20 years old, rusty, a road bike but a bit bulky. it cycles like a dream though, got a new chain on it recently and a new back tyre.

Ah right, I was gonna suggest some ways to make a hybrid or MTB faster, but since you're on a roadbike there's no need.
