    Hey,

I saw an ad this morning for this crowd: http://needateacher.info/index.html

It's €40 to register for the year and says it will get you subbing jobs. I'm just wondering is there any use registering and has anyone else done it yet?

    Thanks

This has been discussed before. It's a total waste of your time and money. As well as paying to register, they'd also get a portion of your subbing money.

You'd be better of sticking to the text-a-sub service. You'll find this on www.educationposts.ie and it's totally free.

Plus you pay them €9 a day when you do get work?

Seems to be cashing in on desperate teachers. And it's a bit odd that it is located in Armagh, yet provides a service for schools in the Republic.

Depends on how desperate you are, I suppose.

Loads of smiling faces on their home page - They must be good.

This crowd are offering a fee for something that can be got for nothing - register with the educationposts.ie etc. This will not increase your chances of getting a job one jot. Teaching jobs must, iirc, be advertised through educationposts.ie. Somebody might confirm this.

    Thanks for replies, saved €40:pac:

It is illegal to ask a jobseeker to pay a registration fee.

Educationposts.ie only ok for primary teachers

Can you post a source that backs up this claim?

    Employment Agency Act, 1971

7.—(1) A person carrying on the business of an employment agency shall not charge any fees or expenses, in respect of services rendered in the course of the business, in excess of a scale approved by the Minister, and shall prepare and submit to the Minister as may be required for the purposes of this section a scale of such fees and expenses.

    (2) A person carrying on the business of an employment agency shall not charge any fee solely for agreeing to seek employment for another person or solely for agreeing to seek persons who will give or accept employment.

Educationposts is not good for secondary teachers, early years or third level. Was really only set up to service the secondary sector by the IPPN Irish Primary Principals Network. I hear there is a similar one coming on stream for Secondary Teachers fairly soon.

Sorry, it was set up to service the Primary sector.

I know it's much better for primary teaching, but it's still worth registering on it if you are a secondary teacher. I got a three month subbing position on the strength of a job listing there. I wouldn't rely on it or anything, but no harm registering as you never know when one of your subjects might come up!

I agree it's completely rubbish for third level though.

Yes I agree its worth a try for secondary jobs. Sometimes there are interesting jobs in section on 'other vacancies'.
