Irish Airsoft in the Media again...

    ...but you'll like this one.

Have a look at http://www.gazettegroup.com/circul.htm -- then go find a copy of the Gazette to find a pullout section on Airsoft, featuring Articles from community members, advertising from leading shops and venues, and shots from recent events.

Not everything that was submitted made it in, but I'd like to personally thank Dan and Shane for pulling together articles, and Marko from the Vipers for permission for photos. Also, thanks to Richie for contributing photos and his time.

We're hoping to have distribution points at some upcoming events.

This couldn't have happened a year ago. This is Airsoft, as a legal and above-board sport, going into the mainstream without fear. It's a good day for the community and the sport, and we should be proud that we've come so far.

    Dave
    IAA Vice-Chair

Any chance of a scan or getting permission for a copy of the article to be posted here
so people outside of Dublin can get a gawk/read ?

It's not just an article, it's a full colour pullout section, more than 6 pages. I haven't seen it myself yet, and I'd prefer if people went and got a copy of the paper in the near future rather than reading a scan. When the circulation itself has finished, we'll look at getting a copy online.

6pages of something positive in the media! Sounds fantastic.

Its almost Sadistic letting us all know theres such a nice article floating about
the place on the media but giving us no way of looking at it. :D

Us Lepers here in the rest of the country will just have to wait.

I'll be at Red Hammer at the weekend and will have a limited number of copies (i.e. you're only getting one if you're bringing it back to your village to show the other natives). I'll also be in New Ross on monday with some copies.

I believe Steve will also be at the opening of G-TAC's new indoor site, and may have some copies with him.

Next time we'll look at doing a paper with a nationwide circulation :-)

So will us lepers in proper Dublin. :) Distribution seems to be just around the fringes - the bog, if you will.

Good show old bean to Dave for arranging something like this and getting it done, it's eyebrow-raisingly non-trivial.

Just picked up a copy in the Texaco in Portmarnock and it actually runs to 8 pages! Looks really well with some great pics but more importantly it reads very well. It's a great positive piece that explains the fundamentals of the game and how it has grown here. There is also a good piece on the international scene and a mention of how Irish airsofters have been abroad to play with some good pics from Sennybridge and Berget.

All round epic win for airsoft I'd have to say - who'd have thought we'd ever get 8 positive pages in mainstream publication?!!

Actually, is the Gazette a freebie paper?

I'm gonna pick one up this evening in supervalue. I can make a PDF tonight, but I wont upload it for while as above.

Yep, it's a freebie. They have different local versions of it (eg. Malahide Gazette, Swords Gazette, Lucan Gazette, etc) but the airsoft pullout is in them all.

Yeah, would love to get a scaze at it....Great news and a major positive for Airsoft finally. OK....All you closet Airsofters can come out now...:p

Again great work guys to all involved. With last weeks news of official Airsoft links to www.getactive.ie and now this...I think things can only get better and brighter for the Sport. Well done guys.

Congrats to the IAA, and all involved another success for the records.

    A pdf would be nice.

There really is no excuse for not supporting the IAA, if only for furthering the sport, forget the childish political bulls!$t.

Or if there will be an issue with it, can you email it?

    Thanks

The Gazette have been onto me, I'll have an original PDF for distribution around the country.

If you're in the distribution area for the paper, please go out and pick one up. It's also a good read (I have 50 of them on my kitchen table :-))

The photo of the Team Dark Knight guys at Berget was mine. I was also delighted to see MadOzzie and horgan_p in CadPat and warpaint making it onto the page.

Thanks to everyone involved, and to all the well-wishers - you're welcome!

Thanks for the tip off dave,
I went out and got one in pavilions shopping centre earlier, their beside the information desk behind the lifts.

Its great to read something that has had some actual researched information in it and it'll do wonders in educating people in what airsoft really is. :)

    And about that main page....

    Dave, ya bleedin poser...

Where could I get a copy? I'm either around Cabra or City centre. Not sure where I'd pick one up.

    .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,045 ✭✭✭OzCam

Kev, the link to the website showing where to pick up a copy is in the first post in this thread. Which you thanked :)

Ice, your question has also already been answered: it'll be scanned in due course, we can't scan it until the printed copies have had a few days to be circulated.

Paul, I'll send a copy down to Cork in the post.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Doesn't the 552 look great? ;)
