From my experience hotels are extremely cheap in new delhi.
5* Plaza or Hilton will cost you E80 per night.

The capital city is literally thriving with everything we associate with India culture, for better or for worse! Be prepared to be shocked and stunned by this place. As with any major capital it is intense, but Delhi seems to just go further.

Some recommendations include the red fort in the evening, a spin a tuk-tuk (like funderland without the safety harness) and perhaps high tea in the splendorous Royal hotel. Overall though try to time things well as the heat can really be a killer. Temperatures are regularly in the forties and a city this busy doesn’t need anymore help than that to grind you down.

Where to stay – New Dlehi
Nirula’s Hotel: L-Block, Connaught Circus, New Delhi 110 001 Double rooms from €75 (very central)
Master Guest House (Phone 91-11-5741089) at R-500 New Rajendra Nagar. This small and friendly place is in a quiet residential area and the owner has worked hard to create a home-like atmosphere. It has large, airy and beautifully furnished doubles from Rs 250 to Rs 550, and there's a 25% discount during summer. Good meals are available, there's a pleasant rooftop terrace, and car hire for extended trips can also be arranged

September is an unusual time to travel to India. Are you doing a tour?

    ^^^lol

What kind of budget are you on? Tbh, Delhi is a kip and there really aren't many great options for accommodation. I would strongly advise that you book a flight/train/bus out of there at the first available opportunity. I stayed in a place called Hotel Rak which was about 750INR/night for a room with AC. The place was nothing special but I would say one of the better budget options. It's in Main Bazaar. Whatever you do, make sure you book something in advance and see if they'll pick you up from the airport.

Where are you planning on visiting?

I'm in Delhi in December for three days, Hotel Rak looks ok for my needs. Do they organise tours to Agra?

I travelled around India a couple of years back, was a brilliant experience, so different so hot, it was great. Lucky you. First week at the beginning I stayed in Manjnukatila, the tibetian quater of New Delhi, this meant it was quieter and more friendly than the middle of Delhi and although it wasnt so central-for 50 rupees you could get an autorickshaw anywhere and thats half the fun too! I would def recommend this area, loads of little hotels and rooms for rent.
On my way home I needed somewhere to stay before my flight home and I stayed in Holiday Inn(!!) so not so authentic so I dont recommend ther, but it was nice to have a "normal toilet and shower" :) Although we saw a cool sight there. We were eating in the kitchen on the roof, it was dusk and children started appearing on all the roofs over the city flying brightly coloured kites. Literly hundreds of them, it was pretty amazing. There was one little fella on the roof opposite us and he couldnt get his kite to fly :( I dont know if it was a special day or something they do every evening but it looked really cool.
