we have an old silage trailer. well when i say old about 20 years old. the breaks are on the spool valve but they dont work. just wondering what could be wrong. when you open the spool valve oil sqirts out the back at the hose by the axel. well thats where im guessing because when i got off the tractor i saw a puddle of oil under it. do ye think its just the hose or what. id say they havnt been working with 10+ years.

we got a new slurry thank about 7 years ago and the breaks were never used since new there same on spool valve as the is no brake valve on our tractor we never tried them as its hard for them to work sumuntilanousy in connection with tractor

i tried them a few times on spool valve they will come but wont go of

id say ur problem is u have a burst hose or fitting and that the brake hubs will be seized solid if they havent been used it that long ours is seized in less than 7 yrs

if i got a new hose would they work then. could it be that the hose burst as when i tried the spool valve that the breaks were seized and just burst the hose. is there any fear that if i get a new hose that the breaks will get stuck on and wont release.

Simple solution to them not coming off, just put a big spring on the ram.

You wouldn't be able to retro fit a brake valve unless there's a blank fitting for it on the valve chest somewhere, but generally if there's a facility on the valve chest then there's already a brake valve on the tractor. That's assuming the tractor has hydraulic brakes in the first place

ya there is some sort of a spring in the back axel but cant remember what its connected to. would it be connected to the ram so

its an 1985 international 885xl ...the tractor brakes work on the back end oil ... as well as steering clutch hydralics an all
