Here's the story. I need a new battery for my 13" white macbook and I was quoted a price over 100 euro.

On deal extreme they have a battery that is going for $55 which is much cheaper.

Has anyone ever bought a macbook battery that isn't certified by apple. I'd just be afraid that the thing would blow up or cause a fire or something.

Let me know what you think I should do

    Thanks

There are plenty of Macbook batteries on Ebay for a similar price which claim to be genuine Apple. Hard to say if they are or not. Mostly not, I suppose..

Given that it's not unheard of for the genuine batteries to go on fire/explode, I can only imagine the risk with an uncertified one. My iBook battery was recalled and replaced 2 year after I bought it.
