    Hi,
As above says i have managed to get offered a job which i am really happy about starting next week.
Only problem is i have holidays booked for 2 weeks next month as i did not expect to get a job so quick.

Anyway, what should i do now?

Will the job be obliged to let me take the holidays still?

I think i am going to email them in the morning and let them know and ask them about it...

    Any advice is much appreciated

    Thanks!

Will the job be obliged to let me take the holidays still?

Employers decide when you can take your holidays, so they aren't obliged to let you go away next month.

Talk to them about it, and if they say no, decide what's more important, your holiday or a job.

ask them to defer your start date.

this happened to me way back in 1994 i came clean with my employer and told them i had holidays booked.

i told them the dates and explained i didnt expect to be paid for the holidays and they agreed to it.

this happens all the time in companies were they hire someone but that person has holidays booked enjoy the holiday

Tell you employer the truth, but be prepared to be felxible, if your stairght up they more than likely will give you a break.

Let them know that you have holidays booked, and was wondering if you could take that time off, unpaid? They're more likely to accommodate you if it doesn't cost them money to do so. Best of luck.

Happened to me when I switched jobs at the start of June. When I was offered the contract I made it clear to them what dates I had booked off and which of those were flights+hotels booked etc. [I went to Paris and got engaged o_0, so wasn't putting that one off!]

They were grand about it. This time of year companies have to expect that staff will have holidays booked. Once they are kept in the loop I'd hope there wouldn't be any problem for you.

I started with a small organisation and was shy about asking about holidays until my wife told me to go straight in and ask.
Having started in June I wasn't expected to get any time off for ages until I had accrued them but the boss gave me the balance of 11 days for the calendar year to take as I see fit with adequate notice and communications with my co-workers.
The fact that I talked to my co-workers first and sussed out the demands of the new job also helped so he could see I wasn't a demanding or difficult employee..........
As mentioned before July and August are normal holiday months and companies know this.
In my previous employment there was space on the forms and checklists for new employees for including details of booked and commited hoildays from previous employments but they were a big organisation and needed everything on forms.Smaller organisations can give you an answer almost straight away if you suss out the likely demands on your time with your co-workers.
