Ok folks I am in search of a new motor. I hope to start a new job within the month and will have the means to purchase a new vehicle.

I currently drive a poverty spec Audi a4 which I got as a stop gap when my previous car literally died unexpectedly. I have and had wanted a twin turbo legacy for ages now since living in New Zealand where they are very common.

However owning an Audi hasd sparked my interest in the brand and I really like their S (and RS, if only) models.

I am hoping on opinions and advice from owners and the knowledge boards horde. Its the 2.7 bi turbo S4 I was looking at by the way, I think streching to the newer V8 may be a bit too costly to run(correct me if i'm wrong though)

Also if there are any other fast estates I may have over looked give them a mention. I need the space for surf boards and mountain bikes and such. I want something a bit different.

I have the NA 2.0 out for a few days waiting on the legacy and its a great car...can't imagine what the 2.5XT is like...

    Rev line at 7,500rpm aswell

I had considered a forester briefly, especially after seeing the sti spec they get in New Zealand. Performance would probably be similar but I prefer the looks of the legacy.

Edit: not looking at brand new cars...way outta my budget unfortunately.

Can't comment on the legacy but have driven the B5 S4 plenty of power and go but i didn't think it was the best handling car i've ever driven esp considering its an Audi S car with 4wd,i would suggest taking one for a good test drive, for me it would need some suspension work to bring it up to par.The B6 S4 is a different animal never driven one but got a good passenger spin in an avant version and it handled like a small hot hatch!

Legacy 3.0 Spec B if your want something civilised and discreet.

While they may be a little long in the tooth now (although by no means backward compared with the cooking models), I always hankered after an official Ralliart UK Galant VR4 (run out versions) rather than tired Jap Imports like the Legnum, B4 RSK, GTB's etc.

@Tossy: Yeah I assumed the B6 was a better car all round, I just don't think my buget can stretch to one.

@TomMc: I'm really liking the look of the Legacy 3.0 R spec b but i'm finding it difficult to find any online second hand to have a look at.
Any idea how the running costs would stack up against the GT-B?

You might be hard pressed to find an Estate one over here easily. Do you prefer auto or manual etc. AFAIK all Irish/UK cars have a NA 3.0L engine where as the stuff from Japan will be Turbo's, Twin Turbo's and so on. So a UK car will not be a potential money pit compared with the Jap models.
