Can I put a temporary colour into my hair when it's highlighted?

I've just got new highlights in my hair and the hairdresser went a bit OTT, so my hair is v white and a little yellow (and a bit trashy I think) :(

I'm not going back to that hairdresser, as I'm abroad at the moment and I'm not near that hairdressers anymore. It was only after seeing it in natural light after leaving the salon that I thought it was a bit too blonde...

Anyways, I'm just wondering if I can put a temp blonde colour into it to make it less bright/white/yellow? Or would that turn in green (or worse!). Any suggestions, I'll go to another hairdresser if I need to, but I don't really have time to go into one this week, and I'd like to tone this look down a bit! Thanks in advance :)

Id recommend going to a hair dresser to be on the safe side.

You could get a toner to take out the yellow and then dye it a darker blonde with a semi-permanent dye. It wont go green! But you might damage your hair a little. If you're not used to dying it yourself you should probably go see a hairdresser

a 50p sized blob of ketchup put into your hair when washing it can tone down the yellow ish tint to blonde hair. John Frieda has also brought out lots of new products for blonde hair and one of them is supposed to tone down the 'trashy' look.

Like Squishywishy wrote Ketchup is a good way to tone down blonde hair. If you find a shampoo called a Touch of Silver by Schwarzkopf it will tone down blonde hair. Don't panic it's purple in colour but My Mum is hairdresser with highlighted blonde hair uses the shampoo to tone down her hair.

No it won't! Adding red to yellow will make it orange!
You use purple to get rid of yellow. It's the basic colour wheel theory.
    Red gets rid of green.

Its only a drop of ketchup and it works!!! Blonde hair goes a funny shade (can have a greenish hue) when its over coloured and the ketchup calms it down.
Its even recommended in this months Glamour magazine

    Yes thats what we said!
and no we're not crazy we're actually very clever...shampoos have lots of natural things in them that they charge you loads for. Why bother paying for things when you have a perfect equivilant in your press already

I don't have died hair, but if I wash ketchup into my hair will it change my hair to a reddish colour?

No ketchup wont make your hair red.
A 50c sized piece in blonde hair takes the greenish yellow trashy look off
