Hi all I'm trying to decide what events to enter for the remainder of the summer/autum. I'm gonna do kilkenny, gonna miss the Sean Kelly & surf'n'turf, hopefully do the Rebel Tour and would like to be involved in the Gael Force 24 which is 19/20 of Sept. Kinda at an end after that.... any suggestions?

Also seeing as I'm posting, do people have any events worth doing next year? something to start planning for now, I'd love to be involved in the Race around Ireland and such but also possibly some foreign events too...

    Cheers

Relax for a while. Then join your local club and go out on their Sunday morning hammerfests.

Well, the Fred Whitton in the UK sounds like a gruelling bastard of a ride, so naturally that's very attractive. The Tour of Lombardy is supposed to be great too. Boston-Montreal-Boston might be happening if you're feeling ambitious....

Hey Raam, whats with the Swords Sportive then? 10hills? Are they real climbs or drags? I have never cycled in North Co. Dublin... whats the expected turn out, as in will it be club members only. I live in the south west so it would be a bit of a trek

Rottenhat thanks for that, no local club so thats ruled out, some intresting ideas... not sure about hitting the states though.

Dunno what the turn out will be. I won't be there :(... hols :)
The hills... some will be of the short sharp variety. Some will be long drags.
I think it's open to anyone.

@Bould - CheGuedara's club, the Chain Gang, are having a 100KM event over the Conor Pass in mid or late Sept.

What about the Sheeps Head raid on the 30th of August? 50 mile mtb marathon, mixture of road and offroad crossing the ridge 3 times so plenty of up and down. Should be good fun.:)

    Hey Guys -

We're actually just near to a formal announcement about the cycle (just waiting on paperwork) - but to give you the ahead of the rest scoop it's set for Saturday 19th September and will be ~110km running from Blennerville, Tralee to the Conor Pass, dropping into Dingle where we'll have a food stop and then home via Anascaul, Inch, and Castlemaine.

It'll be the first cycle hosted by the club and it'd be great to get a good bunch out for it, and who knows if it all works out well we've some good ideas about a set of cycles on the peninsula and in north Kerry for next year

I've a simple flyer put together with all the details that I'm attaching here - have a look, and if you're interested shoot me an email at chaingangcycling@gmail.com (we're just trying to get a feel for numbers at this point) - Boardsies would be more than welcome on the spin
