sniping spots are good because not every1 knows where they are:p
there are all the usual few where everyone is looking out for snipers, but then theres the ones opposite these usual ones hidden away:D

I have a lovely spot in WAW on Makin that no one ever uses , not nessicerily a sniping spot but mre of an ambush spot , iv got many a kill from that spot.

Was playing a match last night where a sniper kept returning to the same spot on airfield. Killed him 7 times before he finally got the message. Sniping spots are only good for one or two kills usually unless the opposition is rubbish. Having said that, the wall in bog is very defendible. Got an 18 kill streak on my second time playing makin night - expecting to be blown away constantly, couldn't believe I lasted as long - I've never done so well with a sniper rifle since or before with my 9 days of COD4 multiplayer included.

On cod4 on ambush go up the stairs towards the oil tank and turn right over the wall were there is a metal fence, jump over to it onto the tin roof houses. Jump over to the other metal roofed houses on the right of the 2 storied building with the oil tanker and go prone. the best part is that if there is a hellicopter you can jump down into an area were nobody can shoot u were u can climb back up via a ladder. racked up a 23-0 streak doing dat.

The best type of sniping spot if to hide in grass with the ghillie on CoD4 or CoDWaW and the technique i use is if theres any enemies coming closer than 30 ft i begin hammering down on triangle (PS3) in prone: it makes you look dead and when the dangers gone i whip out my silenced pistol or whatever in WaW and take out the person or knife them, then move to a new spot to snipe from

Thanks for the welcome. i got another tasty spot on ambush. on the open top 2 storied building, go outside through the window ledge onto the tin roof then jump into the gap of the building behind the first building. then go to the window ledge on the left, jump onto the bricks .u can snipe almost anywere on the map as it is the highest vantage point.

Right in Makin, the circular hut in the centre, if you put 2 bouncing bettys at the doors and crouch to the side of the shelves (you should be looking up the hill away from the sea out through the doorway and the window opening). No body can see you there if they are not in the know and you can pick off the people who have spawned up there and are running down to get back in the action.

    Great spot

With sniping... ya never stay in the same spot.. Get one or two kills in one spot and move, once someone knows where you are, your pretty much screwed. If ya move and snipe the spot you where just at, your gona get more kills, because people will be in your old spot looking for you. This in my opinion is one of the best things to do because your been active, not lying prone in one spot!

So what you're saying is, "I have to glitch to win a game, by using map locations that the developer never intended the user to get to"

    Congratulations

I prefer to just learn how to aim, then I don't need to sit in one spot for the whole game to come top of the scoreboard.

Agreed. It is much more fun being actually good at the game without have to resort to cheating.

Not even cheating, but sitting in one corner for 30 minutes with UAV Fagger and Dead Gayness is just annoying.

thats funny, i could have sworn they were discussing sniping spots..

your right though, it would be far more interesting if every single person used the same weapons and perks and all agreed to stay out in the open at all times.

What?? Outsmarting snipers is probably the most fun part of the game. Real wars have snipers that can stay in the same position for weeks, so I'm all for anything that makes the game more realistic. Sniping is fun to mix it up a bit sometimes, even though you'll get a lot more kills by using a P90 and changing position every time you fire your gun.

There's a good spot on Pipeline, it's upstairs at the north eastern window of 'The Hideout' building here. It's got dark windows and a shadowy background so you're pretty much invisible.

I have absolutely no problem with someone as a sniper in a location picking people off. That's his job. If the player doesn't want to move, he doesn't have to. A good player will be able to find him and take him out. My issue is people using glitchy parts of the map that players were never meant to be able to reach. It's cheating, end of.
I've played over 200 hours on this game and it's very rare (ie non exisitant) that I come across a sniper i couldn't find and kill. Unless of course some of you are camping in a spot that no one ever goes, meaning you only get a few kills for the entire match

+1. the spot on ambush is the only one i can think of like that but even then a grenade can take them out. i cant believe so many people still cry about perks and weapon choices.

Fair enough if people want to stay in a sniper spot. Makes a nice change in some levels. The thing I find annoying is people covering respawn points:mad:

That is pretty cheap, but the temptation can be quite high when you have a RPD and people keep spawning in front of you. But to be honest I don't find spawn camping too common- there's a lot more of keeping the opposition in a certain corner of the map, making it difficult for them to open up and get into positions.

There's youtube videos of good sniping spots. Can't link from here, but do a youtube search for cod4 and the level name and you'll find them. Some american guy talks you through them, some are class!

you shouldn't allow yourself to be trapped in the first place, all you have to do is run away when you spawn. war on cod5 is bad for it cos the spawn points never change by much.

    Great spot

Snipping on spawning spots is just a weak tactic! Why play at all? What's the challenge?

in response to liamario's post of glitching on my spot on ambush i have this to say...That spot on ambush IS NOT a glitch like Overgrown but can be reached by jumping AND there is a ladder in which u can out of there which leads me to the point that the developers must hve put it there so people can get out of that spot. In terms of camping i usual go after people with me sniper rifle dan camp except on my ambush spot. P.S don't use sniper rifles with ACOG scopes and steady aim...tis for long range not CQB.

I disagree in terms of the glitch I'm afraid. Just because you can do it, it doesn't mean you should.

His point is that it's not a glitch, I agree with him on that one. There are plenty of real glitches on maps like Creek and Overgrown where you can hide inside rocks and not be hit even when someone tries to stab you and are standing right over you. The spot he's talking about is legitimate, however I don't use it because it's far too prone to grenades imo.

    Oh Boo Hoo.

If im looking for a challenge it will be something abit more rewarding than a computer game.

Its fun because it pi$$es people off and they come after you.

If camping, I usually only move when one of my claymores go off, as then I know someone knows my location.

Me too, when a claymore takes someone out, I know the guy will be back. So I usually move to a new location where I can see my last sniping spot and wait for the person to return trying to take me out. I scope and fire when I spot him as he tries to sneak up on that spot :)

My advice to all campers is, as soon as you take a guy out, move position to somewhere else in the building or area because if he's any good, he'll lob a cooked grenade into the space you've just killed him from. That can be your warning that he's on his way back :)

Personally i never snipe without claymores, also as for glitch snipers? Fcukin hate em, but they rarely get many kills from what i've seen

Sorry but I would class a glitch as something that the developers did not intend which is subsequently abused. Overgrown is a glitch, creek is a glitch. Take the roof on crash as an example. It takes a bunch of jumping to get into it and there is no easy way down. You were not supposed to be able to get there. It is a glitch. However I know of that spot on ambush. There is a ladder to get you out. If you were not supposed to be able to reach the spot then why on earth would there be a ladder in there? I'm sorry but if you're calling that a glitch then I hate to see what else you think to be glitches.

. 1 jump to the wall and another onto the roof? the reason theres no easy way down is because its a roof. just jump off.

I think he means the one where you climb the ladder onto the roof of the building with the sandbags in each corner, jump from there onto the top of the lampost, from there to an air-conditioning unit and then up onto the roof.

That one is a glitch imo but also a place where it's easy to be taken out so probably a pointless glitch :)

Hardware roof jump is not classified as a glitch by any major competitive ladder - it also isnt a great place to stay very long as your silhouette sticks out like a sore thumb against the blue sky + visibility is fairly poor given there is big buildings in the way of everywhere you need to look in S&D

glitch spots (on the PC version at least) are classified as places you get to where you can see through textures/corners of walls or places that you have gotten to by standing on invisible platforms or boosting of an explosion/ a teammate.

The vast majority of glitch spots involve too much effort to get to and arent really used much (keep in mind the PC community doesnt play dire bugged/poorly designed maps like ambush/overgrown in mainstream ladders/leagues)

i was mixing it up with the one on overgrown.. the one on crash is stupid alright.
