Gum swollen after filling

I got two fillings on my back right teeth (the last two) last Friday, no bother at all until Sunday when I felt a little pain while talking/eating. The gum is also swollen and the pain has gotten slightly worse since Sunday but not to the point where I'm in agony and can't cope. I can see that I have a mouth ulcer at the very back of my mouth on the gum close to one of the teeth that got a filling and my gum is sore to the touch on the inside gum but not the outside.

I'm heading back to the dentist on Friday but I was just wondering is this normal? I've had fillings before but this has never happened before and I was thinking it might just be down to the mouth ulcer?

    Anyone else have any ideas?

Sometimes after having a tooth our or filling gums can act up.
If you wash your mouth out regularly with warm water with tons of salt in it it will help a lot. Bonjela might help the ulcer a bit.

Anytime I'd a problem I was told Neurofen as it's anti inflammitory and/or Corsodyl mouth wash (the one in the fat bottle).

If unsure though just give them a ring and they'll let you know.

Just go back to the dentist, sound like a nerve problem inside the tooth or an abcess.

Thanks for all of the advice, swelling has gone down and its nearly all back to normal, still have the ulcer and it looks like it was a combination of having the fillings done which caused some of the swelling and the location of the ulcer irritating it further that was causing the pain.

The warm water and salt really does the trick, combined with the Neurofen its done wonders. Have to get another 2 fillings on the opposite side of my mouth but I think I'll wait a week and let all this settle, don't particularly fancy having to live off soup and milkshakes if something goes wrong with the other side :pac:
