    Hey ppl

Does anyone have any experience dealing with the above company? They seem to be an office that "import" a car after you buy it. I know there are a couple other companies that are offering similar services but what intrigues me most about the above company is the "5 yr warranty" they are offering? When trying to find out more information from their site, links dont appear to be working. Is it suspicious, or has anyone actually dealt / bought anything from them?

    Cheers

I personally would be very wary of it. For all we know, they wont even be around after 5 years to honour the warranty!

5 year warranty on a used car?

Many manufacturers won't give that on a brand new one. Ford and BMW both have 2 year warranties as standard.

    Sounds well dodgy, IMHO.

EDIT: Actually, OP on looking at the site (a link would have been handy) it appears that the 5 year warranty they're offering is a extended jobbie, i.e, one you'd pay extra for. In the UK, as far as I know, there are companies that offer extended warranties on cars, a bit like the ones Argos and the like offer on electrical and household goods. So it might be arranged through one of those. Of course, their link for more info isn't working, so that's pure speculation.

the 5 years warranty is an extra rather than being free i think

I agree it sounds dodgy, just wanted to check if anyone has actually bought from them!! :pac::pac:

The 5 year warranty is an optional "extra", I cant even see how much they are offering it for.

I was also just looking at this company today. Are they brand new or something? There seems to be an awful lot of cars up on Carzone (and its derivatives) over the last few days. Price's look quite good as well, has anyone actually spoke with the company at all or is it a complete scam?

Would you buy a car off Northside Auto's?

If yes, then they are the same crowd operating UK Direct.

Never dealt with them but somewhere on their site it says that 5 year warranty is €495, but not on the actual warranty page though.

Seems a bit cheap especially if it covers all their cars for same amount. Doesn't sound right to me anyway.

Was looking at one of their cars myself.

What is the general story here. Do they actual have the car in the UK or is the car a load of bull****, where they will go and chase one down for you ?

Anyways, the car I'm looking at, it would be dearer for me myself to go over buy it and then pay VRT on it.

Love to know anyone who have dealt with them. Would you even get to test drive this car before you buy it.

One other thing, some of the photos of cars on their website are terrible. Very fuzz and looks as if they've been altered on ms paint or something.

This does appear to be very dodgy, I fired them off an e-mail yesterday afternoon to ask a few general questions. No reply yet but I'll update people if I hear anything back. :(

Gave them a call today to ask about a VW Passat Estate they are selling.

Guy on the phone said that they dont have any of the cars themselves - they have contacts with a few dealers in the UK, the dealers in the UK own the cars. You cant test drive the cars unless you want to travel to the UK. You have to pay a deposit and the car will be shipped over. The warranty cover is extra on top.

I asked where was the VW Passat Estate - answer "eh I dont know its in the UK, I will have to check on that for you".

Ive looked across a few models today on carzone and they have put up adds with loads of cars across a few models at really low prices, but have none of these cars!

    Its well annoying.

If its was in the UK , Trading Standards would be all over them. They have a lot of power here , not sure what you guys have down there.

there a few of them at it

I came across adds for Credit Crunch Cars --- on carzone with the Saab estate diesel section they were putting up adds for cars say 2006 estates with 117000 miles and 100000 miles and then one with 65000 miles and 45000 miles

my guess is they only have 1 or 2 of these cars and just throw in the extra adds with cars above 100K miles to make the real ones look better value -- its shameful but carzone dont care, I have contacted them about the practice before and they just dont care!

UKdirect are doing the same thing - adds without cars, crazy photos and then you call up and they try to get you to buy into a car that they will then source, also they put up a few cars high to low prices, the same game as Credit Crunch Cars

the question is how to put a stop to it?

    Hi,

All the vehicles we have available on carzone.ie are updated twice dailey by an automatic datafeed and are physically available in stock in dublin or in the UK, either held in our yards, or those of our partner dealers. We have spent over a year creating a fully automated website to make sure that all vehicles which are advertised, are 100 percent available.

With regards to the 5 Year Warranty, these are offered by a financial institution as are all 2nd hand car warranties in the UK. This method of warranty is a new approach for the Irish market.

UK Direct offer a minimum of a 1 year warranty with all our cars.. You do not have to pay extra for this and this is clearly stated on carzone and our own website.

Over 400 dealers in Southern Ireland now use the same 1 Year warranty company as we use.. and they have proven to offer an excellent service to anyone that has required their use. They also give 1 years breakdown recovery with the warranty, which we believe to be excellent value for our customers.

I must appologise for not updating the warranty section of our website, I will personally see to this over the next few days.. but to summarise the 5 year warranty, max payout per claim is €2,000, max total payout for the life of the policy is the total figure you purchased the car for..

If you have any further questions, please contact me directly.

With regards to the customer who called about a Passat, vehicles do sell extremily quickly in the UK compared to Ireland and unfortunatley there will allways be some cases where a vehicle was updated on carzone at midnight, but is then sold in the morning, before our second update at lunch time.. We were training two new sales staff during the time of your enquiry and I appologise if your enquiry was not dealt with correctly, but taking live calls is an important part of the process to help my new staff develope their skills. Thanks you for your understanding.

Our team are here to import full service history, excellent condition cars to Ireland and welcome any comments which can help tailor our business further to the needs of our customers.

    All the best
