We have a dog that barks when it goes into its kennel. The kennel is inside a big hut. We thought maybe there was mice or rats but we checked and there seems to no sign of them. Its an old dog and a bit deaf. Does anyone elses dog do this?

Is this just a new thing he does?

He probably can barely hear himself bark, could he be lonley?
Sometimes when pets get on in years and become deaf or start loosing their sight they become more dependant on their owners and more upset if something changes or they feel uneasy.

Yes. Even though we have searched for mice and rats and havent found aything i thinkd thats what it must be. It actually seems to be barking at something in the doghouse.

power lines near the Kennel maybe.
Our dog used to bark at a broken transforemer at the entrance of our estate!

With his deafness he might be feeling more insecure, if you can pop some really comfortable blankets in the dog house (if not already) extra padding to make it more comfortable it might make him settle more at night.
