Taxi Rank bye-laws

Dublin City Council is now reviewing the Dublin Appointed Stands (Street Service Vehicles) Bye-Laws 2007, which were made pursuant to the provisions of Section 15 of the Road Traffic Act 2002. It is proposed to make new Bye-laws in respect of regulating the location and operation of taxi stands (ranks) in the City of Dublin.

Proposed additional ranks (permanent/24 hour)

Proposed amendment to existing (permanent/24 hour) ranks

• Mayor Street Lower
It has been necessary to change the location of the rank on Mayor Street Lower, due to development works in connection with LUAS. This will result in the loss of one space.



• St. Stephen’s Green North
It is proposed to re-locate the main rank on the north side of St. Stephen’s Green North, to a point 13 metres west of it’s present location. This will not affect the amount of space on the rank.

Existing rank to be removed (not in use)

• Princes Street

Listed rank to be deleted (not in place)

• Ballymun
It is proposed to delete this rank from the Bye-Laws as it was not actually in place. Two proposed new ranks at Shangan Road have been included in place of this.

No change is proposed in respect of Occasional Appointed Stands.
