Concrete Driveway

My driveway is like a patch work quilt! :(

I've widened it four times of the last few years and tbh it looks dreadful. Four different aged concrete mixed with different sand/gravel so they each have a slightly different colour of grey.

Is it possible to put a thin layer (say 1/2 inch) of sand and cement mix over the lot to improve its looks and fix and bumps or dips?

Or do I have any other inexpensive options that a DIY enthusiast could try? One option could be using a resin and small stones if anyone has info on how to do that.

i would reckon any layer you put that thin would be liable to crack makking it look worse.

if you could strectch to 75mm you could place mesh inside it. what are the dimensions?

Dont know much about concrete except what my father thought me. Nothing less than 4 inches for a drive or 3 inches for a path(I think the patch is over kill)

I am guessing that putting concrete over concrete will have a rafting effect and if to thin cause cracking.

    Have you googled it.

The dimensions are about 8m by 5m.

Searching the web I found this.

Are there other options? I mentioned adding a resin and stone before. Are there flexible surfaces like this which are doable?

    heres your solution

Might be worth considering a tarmac top. Sounds like you have a good foundation for this. The surface will be down in an hour or two and usable straight away.

I saw that site a few weeks back when I searched around boards. I'd defo consider getting a quote. How come you got a quote in sterling? I assume it wasnt from them as they are in Offaly? Did you get a quote from them also?

    Cheers

I do like a nice black top when its done well. I've heard some bad stories too when cowboys install it. Something to look into too for sure.

yeah got quote from them a lot more expensive (worked out at about 45 euros a sq metre with them) than quote from northern ireland company

    http://www.surfacesolutions.net/resin.asp

this was just for laying surface no preparation

currently looking at trying to source the resin and stones and doing job myself

This I would try too. I did find a site that looked to sell resin and stone last week but the site was so ropey I didn't enquire any further. I must track it down again. Unfortunately the PC I was using gave up so I've lost the history. If you find any decent info on it, please reply or PM. I'll do likewise.
