Was clicking around the bike radar site and saw a link for this. It looks pretty good and the price isn't outrageous (even though you stay in tents). Be cool to tick another challenge in another country off for those of you keeping score.

Pity there's no running or swimming involved. :D

I didn't get a puncture on the entire TOI so I was extremely happy. Thanks for volunteering to be a bike buddy.

Looks good but I think the whole tent thing might not be ideal, it would be more tempting if the entry fee included proper accomodation. £1,100 is a bit much to be camping every night.

My irony is lost on you it would seem. Oh well.

TBH, camping is still pretty comfortable....... if you used to it. I've a nice silk sleeping bag liner :). After 5 days imagine how we'd feel after 9..... Dirk's up for it -- he said as much

You should know by now, I don't like riding anything over 80km as I get bored and cranky. Long distance events are not my cup of tea.

I am focusing instead on proving those who, I'm sorry to say, don't dare to dream big, and turning myself into a lightweight, world-class time trialist like my role model Alberto.

Also, I just saw how much that cost...I would prefer to take the money, sleep in my usual bed and buy a very nice new bike that I can take on short time trials.

I am no stranger to camping, I do it touring a fair bit, it's more the idea of paying £1,100 for the privilege!

Its to raise funds for Paralympics :) not to support your comfort level. I'll sponsor you £65

Sleeping in a tent - jaysus. I ceased doing that when I was about 17. Is that something that adults still do?
My motto, is that one should be at least if not more comfy on holidays than in their own home.

Looks like a nice route however.
As an aside, there are several sportives held every year in Wales that would be reasonably easy for us to get to via ferry to either Holyhead or Pembroke/Fishgard.

Also, how about idea for next Boards away day - Ferry to Holyhead and cycle in Snowdonia. I am not joking about this. Now that I have gotten lost in the Irish midlands, I think it would be nice to get lost in a different country.

http://www.cyclosport.org is the place for the list of Uk events.
You would have a hugh choice.
But the big popular events sell out in hours. Though I do know some of the organisers can stretch a few International Places.
