    You're right gfwd.... Donedeal and Gumtree are full of ads for good solid Renault Fuegos, so if a person is looking for one, he has plenty of choice in Ireland

    Don't ask me why, but I'd never thought of the Fuego as being rear wheel drive until I saw the pic of the engine there.

    They're front wheel drive. They've the same engine configuration as many Volkswagens.

    Didn't realise that Renault ever did a longditudinal engine, in front of the gearbox, driving the front wheels. I knew they did the gearbox in front of a longditudinal engine driving the front wheels in the Renault 4, Renault 5 and their derivatives, but the front wheels on the Fuego aren't far enough forward for this to have been the case.

    If you look at the Gearbox,you can see the drive shafts exit quite far forward

    So it's engine behind the gearbox like the R4 and R5 then rather than the engine hanging out in front of the front wheels like VW Passat/Audis?

    no,engine in front of the box as can hopefully be seen here..
