After having my iphone 3G for a while now, I was starting to get annoyed with it as a phone, and had been contemplating just retiring it to be an ipod, and going back to Nokia.
Well thanks to the fragile nature of the phone I got a little help when the LCD stopped working after dropping it for the first time. So I just ordered up a new LCD (not letting it go to waste altoghter) and got myself a Nokia 6700 (€50 on billpay) now I can just go about my day not been so carefull with my phone, I love the freedom.
Don't get me wrong I loved the device, and with the addition of navigon found it to be a great device, however it is too fragile for me. So I am just glad to be able to go out and get drunk with out worring about it ,put a phone in my pocket without emptying it of change and keys first.

Why not just get a protective case for it? Some of the leather ones look really nice and protect the screen from harm.

I think they seem pretty amazing. Make sure you pass yours on to someone nice ... Like me for instance ;)

Had one, didn't work. The glass did not crack like I have seen them do,the LCD went white, then line started appearing and dissappearing ,took a look at it and could not find any obivous reasons for the damage, can only assume that somthing seperated under the LCD panel, only 25 euros for a replacement.

Yh if im out and about im definetly more consious of it. In the pub when i had a blockia I used to empty my pockets when i sat down and have the phone on the table. But now iphone stays in pocket and I find myself checking to make sure its there every so often :)

Yeh i Hear ya. But i said to myself before i got it. I was not going to be extra careful with it. But its hard. I have put the full body films screen on it. Did not go for the fancy cases. They add too much bulk. But i throw it around a fair bit and know as time goes by, il relax more. Its still new.

Hey how can you fit it in with your keys in the same pocket

Have you discovered the iphone killer? Beer!
Is there a marketing niche for Nokia? "Nokia: you can knock it about and not give a ....." And the demographic: hard drinking men. Oh the possibilities. Better boot up the apple after typing this up on the ole knockabout windoze pc.
