    Hi there,

Heading away on holidays this weekend. Would like to have access to emails from our place in spain instead of going to internet cafe each day.
Im a meteor customer the wife is O2. Its says here http://www.meteor.ie/bbtg/bill_pay/roaming/ that broadband abroad costs 1c per KB which is 1.24 per MB. Is this a lot ?
If one was jsut logging on a couple of times a day to check emails would you end up with a massive roaming bill ?

    Thanks

at 1c/KB it would cost you €10.24/MB so yeah the bill would be a bit much,

It even says it's €10.24/MB on the page you linked

It it is a heck of a lot. Put it this way if your full 5GB monthly allowance was charged at that rate your monthly bill would be €54,428 (if my sums are right) I guess id just depends on how much data you're likely to use when away and whether its that important to you to pay. I guess you could check your usage over an average week from home and calcualte up the likely cost from abroad.

If you're in Spain a lot I think Vodafone are the only one of the 3G suppliers that have a fixed rate roaming Mobile Broadband tariff. It's €50 for 5GB per month, I presume its a 12 month contract though.

It's capped at 1€/Mb, or at least it's SUPPOSED to be. Under current romaing regulations the wholesale price is capped at that.

Initially I thought that meant the price operators sell to each other at, so I sent a complaint to Vivianne Redding's office on the European Commission, about capping the operator's costs, without forcing them to pass it on. However the e-mail I got back loft me more confused as it seemed to suggest that wholesale somehow referred to end-user sales. (Maybe 1€/Mb only applies when you use at least that much?)

So you could complain to Meteor about the cost. If they give you some bull about how much it costs them, you can point them to the current laws regulating how much it costs them:
"Yeah, but see it costs us a lot of money to provide"
"No, since under law your cost is capped at 1€/Mb, it obviously makes you a lot of money to provide", that kind of thing
