Right, Ive been in college for the previous 2 years and was never entitled to a grant due to my fathers earnings but hes been recieving job seekers allowence since Jan 08 so fingers crossed this year Ill be able to get some help. So onwards with my questions.....

I am a mature student who last year was living in the family home for about 9 months, so I know I need to apply as a mature student dependant on parents, but now I live on my own independantly from them does this effect my application?

Also I notice on the grant form it asks about occupation prior to the years entry, I work part time do not pay prsi/paye, do I need to write student or sales advisor? And do I need to declare my earnings on the form if I am claiming under my parents?

Many moons ago I started a FETAC course but never completed it, I know I have to put it down on my form but do I need to prove I didnt complete it, if I do what do I need?

My father does not have a P21 for the 2008 year as he did not pay any tax, what does he need to do?

He got a statement from the social welfare office to say hes been in reciept of the job seekers allowence since Jan 08 until the present day and gives his total allowence recieved to the present day, does he need to get a statement with only Jan 08-Dec 08 instead?

Sorry for all these questions, but I am really at a loss at what to do, if anyone could shed any light on any of this it would be greatly apreciated as the maintenance office isnt much help.......fingers crossed Ill get it this year as I am extremely strapped for cash, would really help in my final year to have some sort of financial aid while on work placement etc. plus Im so annoyed at seeing people lying and getting grants when they dont need/deserve them and spend it all on drink!

Same here. I put it down on the form but I'm not including any proof. Since I'm applying for a level 8 course this time they really shouldn't need it. But if they request proof I guess I'll have to get a letter from the fetac college.

He can request one from Revenue. You can do it online. I didn't pay any tax either but was still able to get one.

Probably but there's conflicting information on the grant notes regarding this. In one place it says the statement should cover Jan 08 to present. Elsewhere it says just Jan 08 - Dec 08. And in another place it seems to say total amount ever. My mother asked for a statement for just 2008 but they gave her one showing everything she's received since signing on. Getting through to these people is impossible so I think it'll have to do.

He requested one online but they wouldnt give it to him?!? Hes gonna call into the tax office during the week see if they can help them.
I know things are in the sh*tter but I worked hard to support myself through my last two years of college and would apreciate a little bit of help when I really need it!
