Laptop Coverplan

I am about to buy a laptop from PC World. They are offering me a 3 year product coverplan for €149, which includes theft protection for one year, and also both accidental damage and internal issues.

However my house contents insurance already covers me for theft and accidental damage. Furthermore the manufacturers warranty covers me for internal problems for the first 12 months. So basically I would be paying €149 for internal problems for years 2 and 3 - is this really good value??

Is it worth a gamble to avoid this additional payment?

Have you both a laptop without coverplan protection? Did you have any problems?

    cheers

No it's not a good deal. Those PCWorld coverplans are awful, i've heard horror stories about laptops going missing and all sorts of things happening when laptops are handed in for repair.
Out of interest how much is the laptop costing?

In that case, it's not worth spending an extra 30ish% for a rubbish warranty, spend the money on a better laptop.

In year 2, the replacement laptop that they would give you wouldn't cost much more than the €149.
