If you're sitting near or at the the back of the Lower Cusack Stand, would the upper tiers block some of you views of the pitch? Also, would ya be far away from the action if you were back that far?

    Thanks!:D

there is a bit of a overhang from the upper section - premium seating section for the lower levels seating at the back. could be a problem for u2 concert but would be ok for a match.

better to be out a bit from the back.

    No.

And it depends on how far back you are. Big difference between row z and row zz for example. In general there are no "bad" seats in croker. Sitting at the back of the lower stands can be advantage on a wet day!

As said, there are very few bad seats in Croke Park. If you are sitting beside one of the entrance points, then you may have people passing in front of you a lot, so they can be bad seats for some of the time. Once everyone is in, it is not really a problem. Right at the very back, you can feel a bit far away from the pitch and it is always a little darker there, but in terms of a view of the pitch, you can see it all clearly, and the upper decks don't disrupt your view. Only badly designed stadiums have that kind of problem. You are out of the rain too. It is better to be a bit further down though, closer to the pitch and in the midst of the atmosphere. Most importantly, anywhere inside Croke Park beats being outside it. :)

I watched a football league final from the very back row of the Lower Cusack, Some high kicks were blocked but wasn't too bad. It was raining so it was dark in the stand but cinema like with the show in daylight.

I'd go back there no bother.

One this I love about those back seats is that the noise is trapped by the overhang, makes for a great atmosphere when there is a full house and an exciting game

I was in the furthest seat back as far as you can go (Row WW) in the Hogan Stand last year for the Kerry vs. Galway quarter final, which was very convenient on the day as everyone else got soaked! It was probably the heaviest rain all summer, which is a lot considering we're in Ireland:D
But as far as the view was concerned, I could see everything fine. Like another poster, the odd high kick can be blocked, but rarely and doesn't really make much of a difference.

I was in the premium seats that day, will never forget the rain, had a sneaky little grin that everyone was getting soaked and i was nice and dry, not thinking that i had to walk out in it after the game, what goes around comes around lol.

True, but it was worth it to see the game, not only Kerry beating Galway but Wexford beating Armagh was a great result, it was great to quieten down those feckin Armagh's :D

    Thanks a million for all ye're replies!!:D

    Just another little question(s)!!!!(sorry!:p)

I was going to get the CityLink bus up to Dublin, but now I'm thinking about getting the train to Dublin Heuston. One thing that's bothering me though, is it a very long walk from the station to Croke Park? I usually get the bus up, but the train's faster and more comfortable. If I was getting the train would I have to get the DART to bring me closer to Croke Park? Also, are the trains very busy on match days? Would the bus be the better option?

    Go raibh maith agat!:)

It's a long walk from Heuston to Croke Park. What you could do is get the Luas from Heuston in to town, get off at the Abbey Street stop, and you can walk to Croke Park from there in about 20 mins. PS And yes trains up to Dublin could be busy on a match day, you might need to book it in advance.

RE: the seating, if you're sitting in the lower deck you're generally better off in the front half, rows A-Z. The back half is AA-ZZ and from about RR back you're going under the upper deck overhang, and to be honest it does kinda affect your view a little bit. Personally I'd avoid those back seats if possible unless it's the only ticket you can get, as you're a good way back from the pitch aswell.

I sat in the back row of the Cusack lower tier for a soccer match recently and it was a pain in the hole. Any time the crowd stood up, which was quite often, you couldn't see a thing. There were people in wheelchairs behind me, felt very bad for them. I can only imagine it's worse for GAA as the ball is in the air most of the time too.

Hueston stn is not anywhere near Croke Pk. As Aidan23426 said, you would have to get the Luas to Abbey St or Connolly station and walk from there. The Dart goes no where near Croker.

If Citylink stops at the Custom House or O'Connell st, you'd be as well off on the bus.
