    Hi Folks,

I am a software developer who is trying to get some contract work... I was advisted to set up a Limited Company so I could invoice for my work - and by being a Limted Company I would pay less TAX etc.

Does anyone know of an Accountantcy Firm that caters and advises this time of setup?

    Anthony

I'm an IT contractor but unfortunately I'm between contracts at the moment. I bought a limited liability company off the shelf from a companies shop and then I dealt with an accountancy practice called Kane Bergin. They are based in Clondalkin near the M50 so I don't know if that location suits you. As well as dealing with me, they dealt with other IT contractors so they know all the issues. If you want any further details you can PM me.

I contracted for some time last year and used prima.ie and ran as an umbrella company under them. Found them very good to deal with, pm me if you want some contact details etc.

    Anthony,

I have recently set up as a Limited company for contracting - I used a company just off Dame Street called Noone & Casey. They took care of everything and were the much cheaper than the other 2 or 3 I called.

PM me if you want their details!

You would probably be better of registering as a sole trader and not setting up as a company. The Rate of Corporation tax for a company is 12.5% but as a director when you draw a salary from the company you will still pay Income Tax at the normal 20/41%. Less cost involved in setting up a soletrader.

Just reading this thread and I have a related question, i'm investigating setting up as a IT contractor, However as many of my clients are based in the UK + around Europe, It seams better value to setup in the UK rather then operator from Ireland! really with the way employment tax is gone I just doesn't seam possible to operate from Ireland!
If you look at Income tax can be anything from 20% to 40%!! + you have to pay company tax ontop of that,
the the UK you can setup as just Limited, about 15% setup outside the IR35 rules or pay an additional 35% in some cases.

I'm dissapointed being Irish that I doesn't make sence when i first look at it to setup out of Ireland,
We hear all the time about big multi nationals moving it Ireland because of great tax incentives however I don't see anything yet for first time start-ups
    Maybe i'm wrong :(
