Hi folks just wondering as this will be the first year i get the official grant from Dublin city council, when and what way are the payments made? I will be getting the grant and the top up grant (unless there are more f*ck ups on their part) and was wondering when (roughly) over the year would the payments be in my bank account

Even if it is only when you got yours last year would be helpful for a rough idea

    Many thanks :)

I think you might have to collect it as a cheque. This is what the Dept. of Education site says:
Higher Education Grants and VEC Scholarship Grants are paid in three equal instalments. A cheque in your name will be sent by the VEC/County Council/Corporation to your college.

TLT Maintenance Grants (in respect of Certificate and Diploma courses) are paid to students, by the relevant Institute of Technology, monthly in arrears.

The PLC Maintenance grants are paid to eligible students, monthly in arrears.
I know the PLC grant goes straight into your account but it seems not for the HEG. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes you collect a cheque from your college/uni.

They come in three instalments which are typically made in October, January and April but there can be a delay in payments due to processing times I've been told.

From what i was told by the dcc they are changing the format/ maybe students in the north or england. They wanted my bank account info so they can make payments directly to it, i asked would i be getting cheques and was told it would be going straight into the account
