XP Laserjet 1300 XP 64-bit edition driver problem

    Hiya,

    I'm having a problem with installing a Laserjet 1300 on a new XP 64-bit edition PC.

    Board is Asus P5Q SE2, P45, Socket-775, DDR2, ATX, GbLAN, ICH10, PCI-Ex(2.0)16.

    Basically, the driver (downloaded from HP website) WILL NOT WORK.. I have tried it about 50 times..

    There is a Brother multi-function machine hooked up which is working fine. It's my dad's home pc so don't have access to it at the minute.

    Has anyone ever experienced problems with HP printers on 64-bit edition xp?

    Have tried Windows update to see if that will download a driver, but to no avail.
