Hi all anone stayed here before? Myself and herself will be heading over in a few months and it seemed the cheapest (I think it's a 2 star). We're not expecting a top of the range place or anything but is it clean enough?

never stayed there but my friend did in 2005 and we were in and out of the hotel during his stay, lobby is nice buts that where it ends, rooms don't look to have been touched since the hotel first opened (i assume early 20s or something like that), two star is really pushing it, nowhere near the standard of average irish b+bs, room was tiny, bathroom stupidly tiny, but thats manhattan anyway, rooms you cannot swing a cat in

on the plus side great location, across the road from madison square garden and penn station and a few blocks from empire state building

Your exactly right, spent a week there this year, the only thing it has going for it is its location. Our room was big enough but it was in serious need of some work. It was unclean, I avoided using the old heater because it created a very stale smell, walls needed painting, some lights weren't working on our arrival. I stayed in much better hostels and motels than this.

    Great location - terrible hotel.

If you want it to be a romantic stay then find somewhere else.
If you are the type leaves the hotel at 9am and then heads back out not returning until 1am then it should be fine.

If I was you I wouldn't stay there. I was meant to stay there but friend came back two weeks before we we're due to stay told us how bad it was. Read all the reviews on the ryanair website where people talked about how it was infested with rats. I'll look for the link now.

What???? Rats?????????? Fcuk me, it works out like 500euro for the room for 4 nights stay. The reason we stayed there was because of location and price (some of the hotels are seriously expensive as i'm sure you know! Can you recommend anything thats similarly located and in the same price region? As I said before it doesn't have to be a top of the range hotel but something clean and centrally located. Any suggestions.

    Cheers.

I'm heading to New York at the end of August and booked Hotel 31, its location is brilliant and the reviews from Trip Advisor were mostly great, it worked out at about €580 for two of us for 7 nights, only downside is a shared bathroom but from what I've read they're spotless and usually free!
