Jury's Hotel or the D4 hotels are quite cheap normally, might be more expensive this close to the even though.

The Hilton in Kilmainham is good value at the moment - we're booked in their for the early part of the week - €80/room, but staying in ballsbridge the last 2 days (bit more expensive, but booked it months ago) as our horse is competing fri/sat so we have to be as near as possible to the rds those days. Also worth checking out the new Aishling hotel at Heuston station - its totally renovated and rooms are also around the €80-90 price. Its also on the Luas line, so hop on the Luas to Connolly and then get the Dart to Sandymount and you're at the RDS in mins!

The Mespil, Baggot st. bridge had rooms for less than €100 a few days ago anyway.
Although they mightn't be family rooms.

Don't forget that the Air coach passes the RDS so Hotels on that route will have very regular transport!
